WHOLE TISSUE IMAGING AND ANALYSIS

Liver Fibrosis

DIRECT READOUT OF FIBROTIC ACCUMULATION AND TREATMENT IN MODELS OF LIVER DISEASE.

Multispectral and label free collagen imaging of whole tissues.

Hepatic fibrosis occurs in most types of chronic liver diseases and results in an excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix proteins including collagen. Advanced liver fibrosis ultimately results in cirrhosis, liver failure, and portal hypertension and often requires liver transplantation. The development of antifibrotic drugs has been stimulated by the capacity to reverse advanced liver fibrosis in patients. Many emerging antifibrotic therapies are aimed at inhibiting the accumulation of fibrogenic cells and/or preventing the deposition of extracellular matrix proteins.

We provide the capacity to image whole and partial liver samples through our TissueCyte™ systems. We can image multichannel target distributions throughout the liver sample. In addition to standard fluorescence markers, we can utilize 2Photon imaging to visualize second harmonic generation (SHG) from collagen fibers thus providing a valuable assay of the direct readout of fibrotic accumulation and treatment in models of liver disease.
